USA crowned women’s World League Super Final champions in Kunshan

Team USA won the FINA Women’s Water Polo World League 2018 title tonight in Kunshan, China, at the Kunshan Sports Centre which was hosting the six-day tournament.

USA confirmed their dominance in the sport today by earning their 11th Super Final crown, the fifth consecutive one, defeating the Netherlands 8-6 (1-2, 2-0, 3-2, 2-2).

Russia retained the bronze medal, beating the Canadians 7-6 (2-2, 2-2, 1-1, 2-1).

Thanks to three goals in the first half to Anna Espar, Spain settled for the 5th place, crushing the host nation China 10-5 (2-1, 4-1, 2-2, 2-1).

In the first game of the day, Australia managed to beat Japan 10-7 for the 7th place (1-1, 2-2, 3-2, 4-2).

The men will play their Super Final from June 18-23 in Budapest, Hungary. The teams qualified are: Montenegro, Croatia, Hungary and Spain for Europe and USA, Australia, Japan, and Kazakhstan.
