The visitors started the game strongly and Enfield’s young side struggled to find their composure during the early exchanges.

With the hosts committing players forward, Hornchurch were able to capitalise on the break and edged a close first quarter 3-2.

Alex Waller and Alvaro Lapazz were on target to keep Enfield in the game, but it was Hornchurch who went further ahead at the start of the second.

Enfield’s Lapazz then found the net again with a fierce bounce shot, before Nikos Chamalidis smashed home his first of the night to make it 5-4 to Hornchurch at half-time.

In the third, Enfield’s fitness began to show and despite conceding two sloppy goals, Frazer Briers led the fightback by scoring the goal of the game as he flicked the ball with his right foot into his hand and then fired into the net.

Nikos Chamalidis was also in fine form and scored twice more to complete his hat-trick, including a superb lob from 6m that just beat the buzzer.

With the scores level at 7-7 going into the final quarter, the momentum was clearly with Enfield and they were constantly allowed to counter as Hornchurch failed to swim back.

Alex Waller was the first to take advantage by bagging his second, third and fourth of the game, while Alan Wollaston completed the scoring with a finely-taken penalty to make the result 11-7.
