Enfield beat Otter at Southgate

Enfield Water Polo Club beat Otter 11-5 on Wednesday night at Southgate Leisure Centre to make it five London League wins out of six.

With four of Enfield’s first team – Rob Lucas, Dax Cain, Martin Ilievski and Rob Threadgold – all missing from the team sheet, the hosts feared the worst when Otter took an early lead in the opening quarter.

Andy Boorman’s goal was constantly under threat, but the visitors couldn’t add to their tally and Richard Waller fired in a penalty to make the score 1-1 at the break.

The late arrival of Craig Snowdon, Tony Matthews and Sean O’Brien swung the game in Enfield’s favour in the second as the hosts comfortably won the quarter 5-0 with goals from Andy Rolle (2), R Waller, Alex Waller and Tony Matthews.

A fired-up Otter responded with two quick goals in the third, but Rolle and R Waller were on fine form in front of goal to keep Enfield’s five-goal lead intact as the quarter ended with the score 8-3.

Otter continued to drive forward in the fourth and found the net twice before Enfield took the game beyond their reach through Rolle (2) and R Waller to make it 11-5 at the final whistle.
