Greece and Hungary take the European preliminaries lead

Six more games of the FINA Men’s Water Polo World League European preliminaries were contested last night, Tuesday November 13, in various European cities as Hungary defeated the Russians 15-8 playing on home soil in Ruza (3-2, 5-1, 3-1, 4-4), Germany crushed Malta 23-9 in Krefeld (GER) (3-4, 7-1, 5-2, 8-2), the Greeks beat the Netherlands 14-9 in Athens (4-0, 4-3, 4-3, 2-3) and Spain won 11-3 against Ukraine in Kharkiv City (UKR) giving them no chance in the first two quarters (2-0, 4-0, 1-1, 4-2).

In the only matches of Group C and D respectively, Italy claimed victory against the French 12-3 (4-0, 4-1, 1-2, 3-0) in Imperia (IRA) and Serbia defeated Romania 13-6 in Izvorani (ROU) (3-1, 2-0, 3-4, 5-1).

Therefore Hungary and Greece are the only two teams with two wins since the beginning of the season and take the lead of Group A and B respectively. Germany, Russia, Spain, and the Netherlands have all collected 3 points so far, while Malta and Ukraine haven’t claimed any victory.
