Euro League, Qualifications – Preview

The women’s European season kicks off

The best female water polo clubs begin their European campaigns as the opening round of the Euro League qualification kicks off today. It’s played in four groups of four and the top three from each will reach the next phase where they’ll be joined by last year’s Final Four participants.

There will be a couple of interesting ‘in-house’ battles as Group B features two Greek sides, there are two Dutch teams in Group C and two Italians in Group D. The latter two quartets look quite balanced, especially group C where LEN Trophy winner UVSE (HUN), frequent QF participant Uralochka (RUS) and two representatives from the Netherlands Donk and Utrecht will fight for the qualifying berths.

A couple of heated battles are also in sight in Padova (ITA) where the locals will met fellow Italian side Orizzonte (8-time winner in the past), Hungary’s BVSC and another Dutch club Leiden.
