Enfield junior named GB vice captain

Enfield’s Alex Waller has been named vice captain of the Great Britain under-16 water polo squad for its forthcoming tour of Hungary.

Alex, 15, will fly out with the rest of the team next week to take part in an intensive week’s training in Eger.

The talented youngster has excelled in the pool for Enfield this year and he has also represented Middlesex and London.

“I can’t wait to link up with the rest of the players in Eger,” said Alex. “Manchester’s Ben Ray is the captain and after Hungary we’ve got another training camp planned at Millfield in late August.”

Alex’s achievement is another indication of how successful Enfield’s thriving junior section has become.

Earlier this year, Alex and three other Enfield juniors – Charlie Briers, Nikos Chamalidis and Costas Chamalidis – helped Croydon to the national title in Manchester.

We wish Alex and the rest of the Great Britain under-16 water polo team the best of luck in Hungary.
