Enfield to move home games to QE Boys

After the successful running of two teams in the summer and winter London Water Polo Leagues, Enfield Water Polo Club are pleased to announce they will play their home games at QE Boys in Barnet from September 2015.

This is to meet the demand for extra pool time and there will be no additional cost to members.

The new Monday night games will start at 8.45pm, while Wednesdays at Southgate Leisure Centre will remain the main club training night, with weekly sessions for all – juniors 8-9pm and juniors/seniors 9-10pm.

With the club also running training sessions on Friday nights at Waltham Forest from 7.30-9.30pm, this will be the first time in the club’s history that we’ve been able to offer three sessions per week.

The news is a real boost for the club and reflects the recent success we’ve enjoyed in the pool.

Here is a statement on the move to the all-deep QE Boys from Club Secretary Fred Willey:

“By the end of last Summer, after a welcome influx of new players and the emergence of some of our Juniors, it was getting very difficult for everyone to get as much game time as they would have liked, with the running of just one team.

“For the Winter, we ran two teams successfully and have carried this on for this Summer, and both Teams have settled down superbly.

“With demand for water polo high and a need to build on the club’s recent success, we have therefore decided to hire more Pool time. This will give all our members more game time and guaranteed weekly training sessions.

“Whilst we would love to have more time at Southgate, it simply is not available, although we have let them know in case things change in the future.

“We have therefore booked 8.45pm to 9.45pm on Monday nights at QE Boys pool in Barnet with the intention of playing as many matches there, for all teams, as possible, and this will start in September.

“Wednesday nights at Southgate will remain the main Club night, when training will take place every week, all year round.

“The other good news is that there will be no increase in fees for this extra opportunity.

“In recent years, the club has been extremely successful, particularly with some of our Juniors getting in to GB squads, and this move to the all-deep QE Boys pool will help us to maintain and improve Enfield Water Polo club, whilst not losing the friendly atmosphere that has been with us for decades.”
